Root Canal Treatment is painful?
Absolutely not, RCTs are no longer a painful procedure as they are performed under local anesthesia ,and nowadays there are painless techniques of anesthesia with advanced anesthetic devices and techniques which makes it virtually painless and relatively comfortable.
Does Root Canal Treatment kills the tooth?
No, they do not kill the tooth, in ,fact a root canal removes the infection from the tooth and helps the tooth to restore back to its form and function as normally as it was before .
Pregnant women shouldn’t get RCT?
Pregnancy does not translate to being medically compromised,therefore root canal treatment can be done in pregnancy. Preferably 2nd trimester is the safest.but we try to avoid taking x-ray instead electronic apex locator is used for effective RCT without the need of x -ray.
Root Canals take longer time ?
A RCT takes the significant time as tooth infection needs to be removed , disinfected and sealed . Single sitting RCTs can be performed depending on the severity of the tooth infection and case type.
Root Canals are somewhat complicated and require regular visits?
Most RCTs are very straight forward and simple procedure ,can be done in one or two visits.The first procedure itself when the infection is removed from the canal.The second when the root canal gets cleaned and filled with a permanent filling.it can be done in single visit also.
Root Canal Treatment can cause illness?
No, RCT does not cause any illness nor is it risky concerning overall health.Instead it is safe procedure that protects teeth from further decay or damage.RCT causing illness is truely a myth,in fact RCT remove infected tissues from within the tooth,eliminating harmful bacteria and preventing the spread of infection.
Does teeth become weak after RCT?
RCT gives a new life to severely infected or damaged tooth.It saves already destroyed tooth.
After RCT can you expect the pain to go away immediately?
No, the pain typically goes away within few days depending on the severity of the case and extent of infection. Discomfort usually peaks 2-3 days after the treatment. You may feel pain for few days on applying pressure on the procedural side.
Getting RCT done is very costly?
RCT is not expensive in all cases.Although the cost will vary depending on the severity of the case and technologies used as in laser assisted, RCT under magnification using microscopes and loupes.

No,the Root Canal treated tooth becomes brittle over years and if restored with crown lasts longer.
